Join wildlife education experts, Jacob Rodenburg and Dave Quinn, as they share the possibilities for learning about and with wildlife in Winter.
Discover activities and resources to help you share the wonders of wildlife with students and learners of all ages. Sharing about wildlife and offering experiential learning activities opens the possibilities for deeper learning opportunities while having fun!
Facilitators
- Dave Quinn is a Kimberley-based outdoor educator, certified teacher, and wildlife biologist who has worked with grizzly, lynx, fisher, badger, mountain caribou and other local threatened and endangered species throughout the Kootenays. Dave has been designing and delivering place-based education programs that help connect people to the wild around them for over 30 years. He and his family are honoured to live in Ktunaxa ?ama?kis.
- Jacob Rodenburg, nature sommelier, is an award-winning educator, executive director of Camp Kawartha, a summer camp and outdoor education center, and instructor in environmental education at Trent University. He has taught more than 100,000 students and is co-author of The Big Book of Nature Activities, The Book of Nature Connection and The Wild Path Home.
- *NEW SPECIAL GUEST* Leah Poirier. Leah is a teacher and small business owner based in Revelstoke, BC, living and playing on the lands stewarded by the Sinixt, Secwépemc, Syilx Okanagan, and Ktunaxa Peoples. She has a Master’s in Education for Change, specializing in Indigenous Education and Environmental Sustainability. In her free time, you can find her setting up nature trail cams follow on Instagram @leahs.trail.cam, climbing rocks, fishing, or exploring the land with her dog in search of antlers and bones.
