SIGN UP TO ATTENDJoin Ariana Roundpoint, one of the authors of ‘Sila and the Land‘ and Jacob Parliament from GreenLearning for an interactive session to discuss Earth Month Resources for Educators (April is Earth Month).
Ariana is wolf clan of the Kanien’kehakah people, born and raised in Akwesasne. She has a strong passion for culture revitalization, important work that is needed in order to protect Indigenous knowledge and ways of life for the upcoming generations. A central part of this work for Ariana is to increase awareness of how traditions are being lost and the harm that is being done to Mother Earth. She has a lot planned for her future and wishes to influence others to create change by spreading knowledge through her writing.
She will discuss her incredible book – ‘Sila and the Land’ which is the culmination of collaborations between herself and two other talented Indigenous authors and partnering organizations (including GreenLearning) to create a children’s book which could help to share perspectives on the Land which are common among First Nations, Metis, and Inuit communities.
Jacob works with GreenLearning. GreenLearning is an environmental education non-profit which creates free online education programs about energy, climate change, and green economy that engage and empower students to create positive change. Jacob will be covering an array of free resources and activities for Earth Month for grades 4-12 which provide opportunities to take climate action in your classroom.
This workshop will also highlight GreenLearning programs and challenges which lead to direct action, how to find support as an educator for Earth Month and beyond, and provide the opportunity to ask questions and facilitate discussion.
All registrants will be entered to win some great draw prizes! In addition, in your confirmation email you will also be sent a discount code to access Earth Learning Resources at our non-profit Outdoor Learning Store, including Sila and the Land, A People’s Curriculum for the Earth and The Book of Nature Connection and following the workshop you will receive a link to access your Certificate of Attendance.
