4 Seasons of Indigenous Learning

We offer the 4 Seasons of Indigenous Learning courses as an acknowledgement that authentically undertaking a personal learning journey towards Truth and Reconciliation takes more than just a day or month each year, but should be across all 4 seasons. We currently offer four separate year-long Seasons of Indigenous Learning courses, that run from Fall to Spring, with access to recordings online modules and recordings throughout the Summer until Sept 30.

  • Season 1: Foundations of Knowledge
  • Season 2: Learning from the Land
  • Season 3: Reciprocal Relationships
  • Season 4: Reflective Action

We suggest that people take these courses one after the other (not at the same time) and so between them, there are 4 years of learning. Each year the learning is more and more decolonized. If you find your current season of learning valuable, we invite you to register for the next season when registration opens in the spring.

For those who complete these 4 Seasons (years) of learning, we will offer the opportunity to gather seasonally virtually to continue to support each other in our ongoing journey towards Truth and Reconciliation.

Release schedule for online lessons + Season 1 syllabus

In order to support you in deepening your learning, and allowing the learning to sink in, we release these lessons gradually over time, and ground these online lessons with the monthly virtual presentations, as well as resources and support. We find that this approach leads to longer-term and more impactful learning. Below is the release schedule for the online lessons:

  • November 1 – Fall lessons released
  • January 1 – Winter lessons released
  • March 1 – Spring lessons released
  • Until Sept 30 – All course lessons will be available through the Summer to complete

When you complete the final lesson of the course, you will be invited to download a certificate of completion.

You can view the Season 1 syllabus here.

Offered by an incredible group of Indigenous Leaders, Elders and Educators from across Turtle Island (North America), these virtual presentations are open to all participants in all Seasons of Learning!

  • Presentation time and Zoom link: The virtual presentations will take place on Thursdays at 4pm Pacific Time / 7pm Eastern Time, and will be about 60 minutes each. All of these will take place at the same link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89935695071 (please save this link)

How do I set up my online learning platform to access the learning modules? How do I sign back into my online learning modules?

It takes a few days for your online learning platform to be created after you have registered for the course. Within a few days of registering for the course, you should receive an email invitation from 4seasons@reconciliationeducation.ca to set up and access your online learning platform.

Why does Season 1 say “in progress” even though I’ve completed all of the modules that are currently available?

Your Season 1 course icon will say “in progress” because the system knows that there are more lessons that will be released at a later date. The course(s) will say “in progress” until all lessons are completed. The earliest a course can be completed is on March 1, when the final set of lessons are released.
