Claws, Paws, & Jaws: Resources for Teaching about Wildlife

May 20

Free

FREE 60 min Virtual Workshop on Tuesday, May 20 at 4pm Pacific / 7pm Eastern Time

With Wildsight Educators Dave Quinn and Jill Jennings

An engaging workshop that will bring the fascinating world of carnivores and omnivores to life! We will ‘pounce’ into Wildsight’s new Paws, Claws, & Jaws: Predator Learning Kit, a unique resource that includes real scat and track replicas, allowing you to study the signs of predators up close. This is the second kit that Wildsight has created, following up on their very popular Animal Tracks & Traces Teaching Kit that was released in 2024.

In this interactive session, we’ll explore predator behavior, survival strategies, and the vital roles carnivores and omnivores play in our ecosystems. You’ll learn easy-to-implement activities and lesson plans, along with practical tips for integrating these resources into both outdoor and classroom learning. Walk away feeling inspired and equipped to bring thrilling predator explorations to your lessons—and discover how this hands-on kit can ignite your students’ curiosity about the wild world around them.

  • Dave Quinn is an outdoor educator, certified teacher, and wildlife biologist who has worked with grizzly, lynx, fisher, badger, mountain caribou and other local threatened and endangered species. Dave has been designing and delivering place-based education programs that help connect people to the wild around them for over 30 years. He and his family are honoured to live in Ktunaxa ?ama?kis.
  • Jill Jennings has spent her career immersed in environmental education, from singing and dancing about “neat-ure” as an interpreter, to leading and developing environmental education programs, and now as the education coordinator with Wildsight. Living on Ktunaxa ?ama?kis (traditional Ktunaxa lands) is a privilege Jill and her family deeply honor. They are grateful to be part of this vibrant landscape, and Jill is constantly inspired by the rich cultural and ecological connections the land holds.
