We know that Indigenous Knowledge and Perspectives are foundational to Outdoor Learning.
And we know that Non-indigenous Educators need to undertake meaningful steps towards Truth and Reconciliation in order to engage appropriately and authentically in Indigenous Knowledge and Perspectives, and build respectful and reciprocal relationships.
In order to support this, we are offering this pilot initiative in partnership with Reconciliation Education, The First Nations University of Canada, Rocky Mountain School District and a number of our Outdoor Learning Partners.
This pilot Every Child Matters: 4 Seasons of Reconciliation learning opportunity is open to educators from across Turtle Island (North America). This learning opportunity will run from February 15 – June 25, 2023. We will host an Information & Orientation Session on February 9th – register.
Registration is just $100 ($20/month for 5 months) and includes:
- 10 Reconciliation Education Learning Modules: ~1 Hour of Learning / Month (see list of modules below)
- A Certificate of Completion issued by the First Nations University of Canada upon completion of the modules
- 5 Opportunities to Gather Virtually with Indigenous Leaders, Elders and/or Knowledge Holders (see list below)
- $25 towards excellent Indigenous Learning Resources
- Access to a Learning Community from across Turtle Island (North America)
$5 from each registration will go directly to supporting the work of the Orange Shirt Society. The remainder will ensure Indigenous presenters, partners and facilitators are given gratitude and appropriately compensated, and will support our ongoing work to ensure Indigenous knowledge and perspectives are foundational to outdoor learning.
This learning opportunity is open to EVERYONE. While content is mostly in the context of Canada, this learning is relevant across Turtle Island (North America). Indigenous Participants – we invite you to use this 50% discount code: ECMIND2023
